Samaria Schlucht

Eingestuft als Nationalpark, ist die Samaria Schlucht einer der größten natürlichen Parks in Europa und der Einzige auf Kreta. Die Schlucht erstreckt sich südlich von Omalos (ca. 60 km von Hania) 18 Kilometer lang und endet an der Südküste in Agio Roumeli.

Der einzige Weg, die Schlucht in seiner gesamten Länge zu sehen, ist von Anfang Mai bis Ende Oktober erlaubt. In den ca. 4 Stunden, des Abstiegs, werden Ihnen unglaubliche Ansichten versichert.

The gorge of Samaria

This is perhaps one of the best known features of Crete and is classified as a national park. The gorge starts south of Omalos (approx 60km from Chania) is 18km long and ends at the south coast of Agio Roumeli.

It is possible to walk the entire length of the gorge but this is only permitted between May and the end of October. It takes approx 4 hours to walk the gorge ( wear very sturdy boots !) which seems arduous in the climate, but it is a truly amazing sight.
