Kipos Taverna

The tavern chose a traditional Greek name “Kipos” for the restaurant, meaning “Garden” because due to the wonderful climate guests can enjoy eating outside in the yard most of the year. You can choose to sit on a bougainvillea covered terrace or a cool green lawn, surrounded by the scents of fresh herbs and night jasmine.

We have a varied menu offering Greek and European cuisine plus daily specials, which include vegetarian and seasonal dishes.

It all started with the comments of friends and family who enjoyed meals under the stars in the garden or beside the log fire in winter with Sue and Manilos, the owners of the Kipos Tavern, and the suggestions that they shall open a taverna to share the atmosphere with others.

After many months of dreaming, planning and preparing finally they opened the tavern Kipos in March 2010 with the philosophy was that guests should not feel like tourists but guests at a family dinner, offering good home cooked food that you would be offered in any Greek home.

Sue and Manolis have definitely achieved their aim, the tavern has a cozy and familiar atmosphere, in which one feels directly comfortable and welcome.

Fresh, simple & unique

The dishes at the Kipos Tavern are rotating with the season and the day’s harvest enabling them to provide you with the freshest, highest quality foods, refined by their own olive oil and where possible organic local produce. You may not find the traditional Mousaka and Pasticcio but you will find a mixture of Greek, Cretan and Cypriot food with some European influence.

You will find the Kipos Tavern down the hill of Kamilari, in the direction of Agios Ioannis or Phaestos, turning on your right in front of the Marmargiana fountain. Just follow the signs!

Kipos Tavern also hosts Fundraising Coffee Mornings and Music Evenings for the local Animal Welfare Organizations, all of these are announced on our Facebook Page “Taverna Kipos”.
