Preveli is one of the most famous beaches in Crete, isolated, beautiful and romantic. You can journey to the beach by car and foot, walking over the mountain ridge from the dirt road, or you can take a boat Agia Galini.
One of the most famous beaches in Crete is probably the Preveli Palm Beach. Its Cretan date palms forest, the year-round water-bearing river Megas Potamos, which flows into the Libyan Sea, its wonderfully clear and refreshing seawater, the adventurous way here over approx. 350 steps with fantastic views or dusty roads from the east side…. All this makes up the charm of this little piece of Cretan earth.
If you have a 4×4 you can follow the coastal road from Triopetra to Preveli beach, but you can also approach this famous Palm tree beach on an asphalt road (Spili – Kokxare – Kourtaliotiko gorge) This way you can also visit the beautiful monastery Preveli and then park the car to walk the stone steps down to the beach (about 20min). A more comfortable way is to come here by boat from Ag Galini or to walk the Kourtaliotiko gorge along the river bed.
The beach is crowed in summer and the best part is the anyway palm-lined river!
